1. Daily Inspection
- Check the surface of the vibratory drum for cracks, deformation, or serious wear.
- Inspect the scraper to ensure it is in close contact with the drum surface to prevent asphalt or soil buildup.
- Check for oil leakage around the vibration chamber, bearing seats, and oil seals.
- Listen for abnormal noise during vibration; stop immediately if unusual sound occurs.
2. Lubrication and Vibration Oil Maintenance
- Use the specified vibration oil and change it strictly according to the working hours recommended in the manual.
- Before adding new oil, clean the oil chamber and drain the old oil completely.
- Check oil level regularly; maintain proper oil volume to ensure bearing lubrication and cooling.
- Use genuine lubricating oil to protect bearings and gears from premature damage.
3. Bearing Maintenance
- Vibratory bearings work under heavy impact and must be kept in good lubrication.
- Follow the grease injection schedule and use special high-temperature resistant grease.
- Do not over-grease, as it may cause overheating and seal failure.
- If vibration becomes weak, uneven, or noisy, inspect and replace bearings in time.
4. Cleaning and Protection
- Clean the drum surface after each shift, especially when working on asphalt.
- Keep the drum free of hardened materials to avoid uneven compaction and surface damage.
- When not in use for a long time, park the roller on a flat site and avoid long-term pressure on one side of the drum.
5. Avoid Improper Operation
- Do not start or stop vibration while the roller is stationary to prevent damage to the vibration system.
- Avoid vibrating on hard ground such as concrete or stone to reduce impact load.
- Do not use the vibratory drum to push or hit obstacles.
6. Regular Maintenance Summary
- Check vibration intensity, oil seals, and bearing temperature regularly.
- Replace worn scrapers, oil seals, and gaskets in a timely manner.
- Keep maintenance records for better management and fault prevention.
Good maintenance of the vibratory drum improves compaction quality, reduces downtime, and lowers operating costs. Always follow the manufacturer’s operation and maintenance manual.
